Who we are.
BOS Studio Architecture is a purpose‑driven practice based in Squamish, BC, with roots in New Zealand and the UK. Founded by Tom Kenny (Architect RIBA, ARB, AIBC) and co-led by Liz Francis (Project Manager PMP), our studio unites international design excellence with strategic project leadership. We exist to help communities, institutions and mission‑aligned partners deliver thoughtful, enduring spaces that enrich lives and respect the land.
Our cross‑regional experience shapes our approach: lessons from NZ’s community projects and the UK’s design rigour inform our work in BC, and vice versa. We are proud to be a registered architectural practice in BC while maintaining a global perspective – our clients benefit from both local expertise and world‑class innovation.
What we do.
Our dual practice combines architecture and project governance. This means we can lead an integrated process or plug in to support specific needs. In practice, we step in early to provide clarity and structure and stay involved through design and delivery to ensure the finished project stays true to its vision.
Architecture: Full‑scope design services for civic buildings, educational facilities, housing and more. We guide projects through feasibility, concept design, approvals, documentation and construction with a calm, purposeful touch.
Project Governance: Strategic leadership that defines goals, aligns stakeholders and manages complexity. From gap analysis and feasibility studies to governance frameworks and funding roadmaps, we de‑risk projects and set them up for success.
Our approach.
We begin by understanding the “why” and “how” – the motivations, requirements and constraints that shape a project. This front‑loaded effort lays a strong foundation and guides everything that follows. During design, we keep stakeholders engaged through workshops and presentations, ensuring transparency and shared understanding. Our toolkit blends technology (like AI and BIM) with empathetic communication so we can navigate constraints with creativity and pragmatism.
